FPS-CPD: Utilising Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) in improving self-esteem and self-worth.

Price range: $317.00 through $447.00 (inc GST)

This course focusses on a common challenge for many people, namely a sense of low self-esteem and self-worth. Self-critical thoughts often lead us to view ourselves as ‘not being enough’ or not ‘measuring up’ in some way. It is known that low self-esteem can contribute to stress, anxiety and depression. It can also interfere with life generally, such as engaging in activities, making social connections and functioning at work, and can contribute to distress and suffering.

The training is is open to GPs, mental health and allied health professionals, therapists and counsellors. It is accredited as Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) for ongoing CPD, and by the RACGP (Educational Activity 4.5 and Reviewing Performance 2 hrs). ACRRM accreditation applied for.

The training is based on adults (all ages) struggling with self-esteem issues, but many of the principles are applicable to younger people as well. The evidence related to the impact of low self-esteem and self-worth on mental health and wellbeing will be presented, and the role of FPS skills in assisting in this important area will be explored.

The course provides an opportunity to develop further knowledge in the area of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and self-esteem / self-worth, alongside a range of practical FPS Skills Strategies from CBT applied to the area. Several other approaches will be referred to. For example, the role of the narrative approach will also be highlighted along with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Schema Therapy.

The course involves 5 interactive online modules (4.5hrs) and one live group skills training session (2 hrs) via Zoom. The course is accredited by the RACGP (4hrs EA & 2hrs RP) , ACRRM CPD, and by the GPMHSC as FPS-CPD.

The five modules are as follows:

  • Module 1: Introduction & background
  • Module 2: Review of CBT
  • Module 3: FPS skills for self-esteem & self-worth
  • Module 4: Imposter Syndrome
