Self Compassion

$9.99 (inc GST)

We are used to hearing about self-esteem or self-confidence, but less attuned to hearing about self-compassion.

However, we have probably all grown up with the Golden Rule: “One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself.” Adhering to the Golden Rule involves empathising with others (understanding of others feelings and thoughts), and perceiving our neighbour as “self.” When we have compassion for others, we are aware that they are suffering, feel moved by their suffering, and our hearts responds to their pain. When this occurs, we feel caring and the desire to help. Having self-compassion is just like having compassion for others. It means you are kind and understanding towards yourself when faced by your personal failings, instead of criticising and judging yourself harshly.
